CPMC Davies where dad was airlifted to (via SFO) is a collection of medical buildings.... 45 Castro houses doctors offices, (ironically where my personal doctor is located).... North Tower home to the Emergency Services and Hospital where dad has spent the last 11 days recovering from his devastating stroke.... And the South Tower where we find ourselves now, 4 floors dedicated to rehabilitation and recovery...
CPMC is a JCAHO certified stroke center. Joint Commission on the Accrediation of Healthcare Organizations, an independent nonprofit started in 1951, who's mission is to continuously improve health care for the public.. Their accreditation and certification is recognized nationally as a symbol of quality... Because of this the Davies campus is a Primary stroke center, with an "exceptional stroke management team that meets or exceeds national benchmarks for stroke treatment".....
What does this mean to us?? An incredible team of doctors and specialists, specifically focusing on the treatment of stroke victims and prevention of future occurrences...... And really cool toys to play with here in the South Tower....... I say this because a few years ago the South Tower went through renovations, updating and adding on to the rehab facility on the ground floor... Building one of the most comprehensive and diverse rehabilitation centers in the state, including pools, exercise equipment and covered outdoor areas to teach patients how to function in every day activities...
Toys dad will be using very soon, if we have anything to say about it!!
When I was working --- one of our national medical customers was JCAHO accredited and it's not easy to earn and demanding to keep -- great news that the hospital has it!!
