Lying for days on end in a hospital bed leaves little room for modesty.. Unfortunately hospital gowns are not exactly designed with style and fashion. but rather ease of care and cleaning (yes of the gowns and of those subject to wearing them)... However these gowns do not lend themselves to full coverage when patients are able to get up and move around... To this end the therapists working with dad have been trying with little avail to find pants for dad to wear when they get him up in the wheelchair for field trips outside of his room... Luckily we did think ahead and have some clothes with us to fulfill part of this need, but we did need to do little shopping to get him some functional and dare I say it fashionable shorts to be out and about in..
In the next few days his wardrobe will be put to the test, we have heard the therapists want to not only get him up and into the chair.. But push him even further, working on standing testing his balance and strength.. or so this is what we have heard, stay tuned...
Even more encouraging is dad's interest in the clothing options, another step toward becoming whole again.. Hopefully he likes the basketball shorts and polo shirts (shirts from vendors I work with).... not exactly his style.... sorry dad ;) Function trumps fashion this time.....
