Dad is kicking and ready to go!!!! Well almost..... He did "show off" to his physical therapist this morning, lifting and bending his left leg! Showing off his newly re-acquired skills..
In this past week he has been able to sit up on his own for 15 minutes, after being helped up to a seated position by his therapists!!! This is a HUGE improvement from just a few weeks ago, when sitting up on his own was not an option.. In addition he is able to right himself if he is not sitting centered, something that up until this point he had to be told to do. Now something he is catching and correcting in his own... This week was less about standing then "pre standing", working on and retraining the muscles for the transition from sitting to standing.. Essential to the future independence dad is working to achieve!
He still views his improvements as "fair" but, we and the those who have seen him since his first few critical days in ICU think he is doing astounding!!
